Beyond Earth Day 2017

Here are several questions for reflection to consider as you move forward.
  1. What do you care most about now? Why do you care about taking action? Take a moment to clarify for yourself. Consider writing it down.

  2. What steps are you taking daily, weekly and monthly to show your support for the issues that matter most? Identify at least one action you can take.

  3. How do you stay inspired, even in light of discouraging news? What practices can you weave into your life that will help you to maintain your energy and commitment?

  4. What actions will you commit to in the next month that will move you toward your goals? Clarify. Invite others to join you.
Whatever you do after Earth Day and the marches, find ways to stay involved and engaged! As naturalist and writer Wendell Berry says, “The Earth is what we all have in common.” Let’s do our part to be the change we wish to see.

WHAT'S POSSIBLE: The U.N. Climate Summit Film

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vaajVtgRuI

Presented to world leaders at the United Nations Climate Summit in New York, this short inspirational film shows that climate change is solvable. We have the technology to harness nature sustainably for a clean, prosperous energy future, but only if we act now. Narrated by Morgan Freeman, it calls on the people of the world to insist leaders get on the path of a livable climate and future for humankind.

WHAT'S POSSIBLE was created by a team including director Louie Schwartzberg, producer Lyn Davis Lear, writer Scott Z. Burns, Moving Art Studio, and the Lear Family Foundation.

April 21, 2013 Bulletin - Earth Day/Green Sunday Celebration

Earth Day/Green Sunday Celebration
When confronted with environmental responsibility, people of faith face a choice: to live in despair or to live with hope. We in the United Church of Christ are called to live with hope. We are called to spiritual and lifestyle transformation based on justice and reverence for all of God’s creatures and creation. We are called by Jesus to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. Today, we celebrate that hope with a special worship service and Green Sunday Exhibits.

Mission 4/1 Earth Kickoff
Green Up, Power Down, Shout Out Today, our congregation kicks off Mission 4/1 Earth (ucc.org/earth) for the next 50 days, an opportunity to examine and change our patterns of behavior and to deepen our understanding and engagement of earth care and environmental justice in the process. This all-church mission intensive will be a concerted effort, ensuring a greener future for planet earth and a greener faith for us as followers of Jesus Christ.
